Many pathways exist for the U.S. to meet our clean energy goals, but they all require upgrading and expanding our aging transmission infrastructure. Our strategic investments will
accelerate the deployment of new transmission lines to connect Americans to cleaner, cheaper electricity; improve the resilience and reliability of the grid; and protect against
disruptions due physical and cyberattacks or climate-induced extreme weather – all while helping achieve the President’s goal of 100% carbon pollution-free electricity by 2035.
Deployment of Technologies to Enhance Grid Flexibility
Funding and expansion of eligible activities under the Smart Grid Investment Matching Grant Program established under section 1306 of the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007.
Energy Storage Demonstration Pilot Grant Program
To enter into agreements to carry out 3 energy storage system demonstration projects.
Long-Duration Energy Storage Demonstration Initiative and Joint Program
To establish a demonstration initiative composed of demonstration projects focused on the development of long-duration energy storage technologies.
Preventing Outages and Enhancing the Resilience of the Electric Grid Grants
To make grants to eligible entities, States, and Tribes to prevent outages and enhance the resilience of the electric grid.
Program Upgrading Our Electric Grid and Ensuring Reliability and Resiliency
To provide federal financial assistance to demonstrate innovative approaches to transmission, storage, and distribution infrastructure to harden and enhance resilience and reliability;
and to demonstrate new approaches to enhance regional grid resilience.
Transmission Facilitation Program
To facilitate the construction of electric power transmission lines and related facilities to enable greater clean energy growth and provide low-cost clean energy to more Americans.
