National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI)

ABOUT NEVI IN WEST VIRGINIA

West Virginia intends to fully participate in the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program. The NEVI Formula Program will provide dedicated funding to strategically deploy EV charging infrastructure and establish an interconnected network to facilitate data collection, access, and reliability. The West Virginia Department of Transportation's Division of Highways has developed the "West Virginia EV Infrastructure Development Plan" as required for West Virginia to access this funding. This Plan will serve as the State’s road map for investment of NEVI Formula Program funds and will be updated annually.

MORE INFORMATION

Initially, funding under this program is directed to designated Alternative Fuel Corridors for electric vehicles to build out this national network, particularly along the Interstate Highway System. When the national network is fully built out, funding may be used on any public road or in other publicly accessible locations. It should also be mentioned that ten percent of the NEVI Formula Program will be set-aside each fiscal year for the US Secretary of Transportation to provide discretionary grants to help fill gaps in the national network. A separate process for these “gap-filling” grants will be established in the future. More information will be posted here as it becomes available.
